A bit of HISTORICAL INFORMATION about OGLESBEY: In 1900, the Emerald Branch of the Auburn School became an independent school. This branch was relocated to 7646 South Green Street and was officially opened in May 1907. It was named after Richard J. Oglesby, rope-maker, miner, soldier, lawyer, and Governor of Illinois three times. Like the man for whom it was named, Oglesby, the school, has maintained diversity in its educational pursuits and accomplishments throughout its long history.
