Circa: 1960s or after Condition: ESTATE / USED Manufacturer: Martha Budich Company in Kronach, Germany
This FINE PORCELAIN FIGURINE was made in WEST GERMANY. It is a woman that is seated playing a cello. Her dress is made of a fine WHITE / PINK RUFFLED DRESDEN LACE that is TWO TIERED and has a few delicate flowers attached to it. There is fine DARKER PINK DRESDEN LACE that is draped around her shoulders.
The bottom of the base is marked with a CROWN and D in script in black under the glaze, the number 2026 is incised, and there is a YELLOW and GOLD LABEL that reads MADE IN WEST GERMANY. This mark represents the work of the Martha Budich Company in Kronach, Germany,as early as 1962. The company is still in operation today according to authors Jim & Susan Harran of the book named Dresden Porcelain Studios.
We are updating our listing to include information from a valued collector, Chris Marshall who has enlightened us with information regarding the MARK on this figurine. He has provided us with information from the GERMAN PATENT OFFICE stating that the mark on this figurine is actually the work of GERMAN ARTIST KARL KLETTE. It states that this CROWN D MARK was used as early as 1950's to the present day by this company.
We believe that this new material speaks for itself. We Thank Mr. Marshall and appreciate that he contacted us with this information.
The CONDITION of the figurine and lace is EXCELLENT. |
