ANTIQUE SETH THOMAS BLACK MANTEL ADAMANTINE CLOCK
This wonderfull piece of historical time keeping is called a BLACK MANTLE ADAMANTINE CLOCK. It was made by the SETH THOMAS CLOCK COMPANY and is date stamped 1897 on the bottom. *************************************** About the manufacture: Seth Thomas made these types of mantle clocks as early as the 1880s in marble and iron cases, and ADAMANTINE VENEER over wood. The clocks were finished in black enamel.
ADAMANTINE VENEER was developed by the CELLULOID MANUFACTURING COMPANY of NEW YORK CITY and was covered by U.S. PATENT NUMBER 232,037, dated SEPTEMBER 7th, 1880. The SETH THOMAS CLOCK COMPANY purchased the right to use the ADAMANTINE VENEER in 1881. *************************************** This clock is made of wood and ADAMANTINE VENEER. It is a CELLULOID VENEER that was glued to the wood case. ADAMANTINE VENEER was made in black and white, and in colored patterns such as wood grain, onyx, and marble.
The PRIMARY COLOR of this clock is BLACK. The TOP of this clock is a WARM ORANGE MARBLE-LIKE COLOR. There is ONE WARM ORANGE MARBLE-LIKE COLORED HALF PILLAR on either side of the clocks face. The BASE of the clock is TRIMMED along the PLATFORM in the ORANGE MARBLE-LIKE COLOR also. The clock has BRASS LION HEAD HANDLES and BRASS FEET. *************************************** CONDITION of the CLOCK: The clock is ANTIQUE and is in working condition and it keeps good time. It GONGS once every 1/2 hour and GONGS the hour. The TONE of the GONG is LOW.
There is a SETH THOMAS BACKPLATE on the back that hides the entrance to the clock.
The SETH THOMAS LABEL is still attached. It is legible and at least 95% intact.
The CONDITION is GOOD-USED. There is a dent on the upper edge of the rim on the top. The clocks face is slightly discolored. The clock shows repair/reworked dates on the back. WE ARE NOT THE ORIGINAL OWNERS and HAVE NOT had the clock re-worked. WE CANNOT GURANTEE that all of the parts are original or how long this clock will continue keeping time.
We suggest that at some point the purchaser have the clock inspected and reworked by a reputable clock repair shop to keep the clock in fine working condition and to preserve it.
It is MARKED B1897 on the bottom.

ANTIQUE CLOCK GILBERT-CONCORD OAK KITCHEN/SHELF
This is a wonderfull ANTIQUE KITCHEN/SHELF CLOCK that was made by the W.L. GILBERT CLOCK COMPANY. The GILBERT LABLE on the back bears the model name as CONCORD.
This CLOCK features a PRESSED IVY/GRAPE/SCROLL PATTERN DESIGN and is made of OAK. It has been re-stained a DARK WALNUT COLOR. The face, dial, and fancy pendulum all appear to be original.
A clock key is included.
Our research/resource indicates that the design on the glass door is a steam-pressed design that looks like the curtains in a theater and is gold in color. The design is in excellent condition for the age of this clock.
The clock is an 8 day, time and strike and is in working condition. The clock needs winding on a daily basis to keep accurate time.
The CONDITION is ANTIQUE-USED. It is in working condition. It has some wear and useage marks. To maintain the beauty of this timeless piece we would recommend having it inspected by a clock repair person.
It is marked by the manufacture as stated above. We have not inspected the inside. This clock is being sold AS-IS and AS-FOUND.
