PORCELAIN CRACKER JAR-JAPAN-TAKITO
This piece of fine china was made in Japan by Takito. Kovel's identifies the mark on the bottom of this piece as it being made sometime between 1880 - 1948.
The hand painted cracker jar features an oriental building and floral scene on an island surrounded by water.
It has a white background with orange and blue lusters and the building and flowers are painted in blue, red, yellow, orange, and green.
There are 2 handles on each side of the piece which secures the wicker handle. These handles are painted gold. Some of the gold is worn off.
This piece came with a lid but I do not believe it to be the originial lid. The lid is marked Wrought Farberware, Brooklyn New York. It is a silver metal aluminum that appears to be hand hammered. The lid has an engraved flower on the top and a wooden knob. The lid fits the jar perfectly.
The CONDITION is ESTATE /USED. The piece shows signs of normal wear and usage and is in good condition. It has a hairline crack on the back that runs from the bottom to the top. The crack is not easily seen and does not take away from the beauty of this piece.
Circa: 1940
Condition: ESTATE / USED
Size: Height 8 inches / Widest point 6 inches across from end of handles
Manufacturer: MADE IN JAPAN
