Matthew Andrew Daly rookwood art pottery vase c1885
This American Art Pottery Rookwood vase was made by Mathew Andrew Daley. The impressed marks on the bottom of the vase read MAD 1185 R Rookwood 54 B.The R means it was made with red clay and MAD are the initials of Matthew Andrew Daly, one of Rookwood's top designers who worked there from 1882 to 1903. This vase depicts golden yellow Irises. Thee irish flowers are sitting in the grass with a lovely brown glaze. New England red earthenware with lead glaze c1820
Period New England CT red earthenware crock. Wheel thrown most probably Hartford Connecticut or north eastern Conn. Decorated with manganese black splotches. The color and clear glaze are exceptional. This piece was lamped when found, the lamp parts have since been removed. The bottom was drilled when it was electrified. We show a picture of the base in one of the pictures. The crock has a line crack that runs from the drilled hole up the side two or three inches which does not affect the pieces strength or collector appeal. This crock is Measures 12 inches high, seven and one half inches across its base with a 5 and one quarter inches opening. Shipping extra. I would guess these jars were made during the early thirties. They are quite beautiful, and their size is monumental for McCoy.
